Strategy & Progress
Odontological research has a long tradition in Sweden, and although the country is small, with less than 10
million inhabitants, its medical and odontological research is among the foremost in the world. Not only are there remarkable research achievements in medicine and odontology, but also successful
commercialization, based on patents and the establishment of companies, which are produce valuable and
recognized dental products.
There seems to be no doubt that Swedish investments in odontological research have been extremely successful both from the public health and economic point of view
(The Swedish Research Council Report No 6,
1999; www.mfr.se).
At the Maxuh, research tradition extends back for more than two decades and during this time a large number of scientific articles has been published in international journals and theses (see separate list of
scientific publications from the
Maxuh)
